[New!] February 14, 2008 - Top Publications announces agreement to publish Michael Mallory's new Emelia Watson collection of short stories. Bill Manchee announced today that Top Publications will be releasing the new adventures of Emelia Watson.

September 15, 2007 - Top Releases Forrest Haskell's new novel, Magnetic Mansion. Top has released Forrest Haskell's second novel, Magnetic Mansion. The novel was inspired by the authors actual experiences as the occupant of an old mansion some 30 years ago. April 15, 2007 - Top Signs Forrest Haskell, Jr. for Second book, First Novel.   Top has agreed to terms with Forrest Haskell for the publication in September of his new paranormal novel, Magnetic Mansion. The story is based on his experiences in purchasing an old mansion in Michigan that turned out to be haunted among other things. April 1, 2007 - William Manchee to Appear At Texas Library Association's  Convention - Top Mystery Author William Manchee will be a guest of the Texas Library Association on Thursday, April 12, 2007 for their Speed Dating with Mystery Authors Dinner. Mystery authors will be rotating between tables of Texas Librarians to pitch their latest novels.  He will also be one of the "Texas Ten," a group of Texas Mystery Authors who will  have a booth at the Convention.

December 18, 2006 - Top To Publish H.J. Ralles Final Book in the Keeper Series. Top Publications announced it had signed H. J. Ralles to her final episode in the critically acclaimed Keeper Series. The new novel for Young Adult readers is called Keeper of the Island and is expected to be released in May 2007.

December, 14, 2006 - Top Announces Agreement to Publish Rosemary-Poole Carter's New Young-Adult Historical Novel. Top and Rosemary Poole-Carter came to an agreement on the publication of Juliette Ascending, a historical novel set in New Orleans right after the Civil War.

September 2, 2006 -  Top Author Rosemary Poole-Carter's murder mystery comedy "Death Behind the Tabloids" is scheduled for production at the Odd Duck Studio in Seattle, Washington, October 13 - 21, 2006. Also, on Saturday, October 13th at 3 PM, she's scheduled to do a signing of "What Remains" at the Seattle Mystery Bookshop.

April 15, 2006 - Top Releases Keeper of the Colony. H.J. Ralles fourth book in the Keeper Fantasy/Sci Fi Series was released today. Keeper of the Colony, ISBN 1-929976-35-6 * Trade Paperback * 260 pages. Two kickoff parties will be held at the two Barnes & Noble stores in Plano, Texas where hundreds of friends and fans will gather to meet the author and be the first to read about Matt's latest adventure.

November 17, 2005 - Top Signs LA Chapter of Sisters-In-Crime to New Anthology - LAndmarked for Murder. Two years ago the LA Chapter of Sisters-in-Crime and Top Publications released Murder on Sunset Boulevard, a very successful Anthology featuring stories that took place along the famed Sunset Boulevard. In 2006 the stories of LAndmarked for Murder will be set at famous LA landmarks such as Eagle Rock, The Biltmore Hotel, Sleepy Lagoon, and USC. Editors for the project will be Harley Jane Kozak, Michael Mallory, and Nathan Walpow. The authors whose stories will be featured in the anthology include Gary Ann Degani, G.B. November 15, 2005 - H. J. Ralles Signs With TOP Forth Novel in the Keeper Series. Top announced today that it has signed H.J. Ralles to a new contract for publication of her fourth novel in the Keeper Series, Keeper of the Colony.  Release of the new mystery/suspense novel for young adults is expected to be in March 2006.

April 9, 2005 - Top and the Internet Chapter of Sisters-in-Crime Reach Agreement for Publication of Mystery Anthology.  Top Publications announced that it has reached an agreement with the Internet Chapter of Sisters in Crime for the publication of a mystery anthology to be called Murder Across the Map. Contributing Authors will be J.K. Cummins,J.M.M. Holloway, Kadi Easley, Megan Powell, Pam McWilliams, Roberta Rogow, Heather Hiestand, Gesine Schulz, Paul D. Marks, Patricia Gulley, R. Barri Flowers, and Cindy Daniel. Cindy Daniel will be the editor on the project.

 April 1, 2005. Keeper of the Kingdom has been selected for New Jersey Schools 'Battle of the Books' list for 2005 - 2006! Check the News page for more details. This is a competition where teams have to read each of fifteen tiles and then answer questions. The winning team in a school will then meet with other winning teams in the district and the winner will go on to County Level.

February 15, 2005 - Daniel Hale and Matthew Labrot's Second Zeke Armstrong Mystery Nominated for Agatha Award. Daniel Hale and Matthew LaBrot's first Zeke Armstrong Mystery Red Card was awarded the Agatha Award in the children's mystery category and now the Green Streak, the  second book in the series has been nominated for the Agatha Award Again.  The award will be given out at the Malice Domestic Conference later this year.

February 1, 2005 - L.C. Hayden's What Others Know nominated for Calavera Award to be awarded at Left Coast Crime 2005. The CALAVERA, like the Otter in 2004, is for the best mystery set in the geographic area covered by Left Coast Crime and published in 2004.

January 8, 2005 - Top Announces Release of Book by Teenage Poet Rachelle Gleason.  Top Publications, Ltd. announced the release of its first poetry title by a Plano, Texas teenager, Rachelle Gleason entitled Examining Life Through Poetry.

December 22, 2004 - Darok 10 by H. J. Ralles set for January release. Darok 10 has just been shipped and should be ready in time for its release in mid-January 2005. Darok 10 is the second in the critically acclaimed Lunar Series by H. J. Ralles. August 25, 2004 - Top signs foreign rights contract with Corpus Collosum Learning of Chandivili, Mumbai, India for William Manchee's Yes, We're Open, Defending the Small Business Under Siege.  The Indian version of Yes, We're Open  will be distributed in India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Bhutan and is already in production. A release date has not been set but we've been promised a look at the cover for the new addition soon.

June 27, 2004 - Top Signs Carl Brookins for New Michael Tanner Mystery - Top Publications announced today that it has signed author Carl Brookins for a third Michael Tanner Mystery to be called Old Silver.  Current plans call for an early 2005 release.

June 2, 2004 - Top announces plans to publish of H. J. Ralles' new moon novel, Darok 10. Top publications announced today that it had reached agreement with author H. J. Ralles for the publication of another novel in the Moon Series for young adults to be called Darok 10.  Under the agreement publication is set for January 2005.

February 10, 2004 - H.J. Ralles' Keeper Of the Empire #1 Best Seller in Dallas. Keeper of The Empire was the #1 local paperback bestseller according to the Dallas Morning News this past weekend. Keeper of the Empire is the third in the Keeper series for children and young adults.  The book was released just last month through a series of kick-off events hosted by local Barnes & Noble Stores.

August 17, 2003 - Red Card Picked for Book Club - The Dallas School of Music has picked Agatha-award-winning Red Card , a teen sports mystery by local uncle and nephew team Daniel J. August 5, 2003 - Manchee To Be Dallas Area Barnes & Noble Author of the Month for October. For the second year in a row William Manchee will be Author of the Month at all the Dallas and Tyler Barnes & Noble stores. Last year Cash Call was the featured title. May 1, 2003 - Final Decree Released - Top Publications, Ltd. announced today that it was releasing Final Decree by Kay Finch.  Kay was the winner of the 2002 Top Publications/Mystery Writers of America Southwest chapter manuscript writing contest.  The prize for winning the competition was publication. Kay's debut novel features family law Private Investigator Corie McKenna and is set in Houston.

April 24, 2003 - Top Sign's L.C. Hayden for New Book What Other's Know. Top Publications announced it had signed a contract with L.C. Hayden for another Harry Brandon Novel. The book is a sequel to When Colette Died and is expected to be released in November 2003.

February 19, 2003 - Red Card Nominated for Agatha Award. Daniel Hale and Matthew LaBrot's new children's mystery, Red Card, A Zeke Armstrong Mystery, has just been nominated for an Agatha Award in the children's mystery category.

The Agatha Awards honor traditional mysteries – books best typified by the works of Agatha Christie. The genre is loosely defined as mysteries that contain no explicit sex, excessive gore, or gratuitous violence; usually featuring an amateur detective, a confined setting and characters who know one another.

Agatha Awards are nominated by the registered fans and Friends of Malice Domestic. Participants who registered for Malice Domestic XV by January 4, 2003 were eligible to submit nominees in all five categories. Winners will be selected by all convention attendees and presented at the Agatha Awards Banquet.

Malice Domestic XV takes place May 2 - 4, 2003 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Virginia (just outside of Washington, DC). Guest of Honor Barbara D’Amato and Toastmaster Parnell Hall head the list of noted authors and experts featured in panels, sessions, and special programming. In honor of its fifteenth anniversary, Malice Domestic is bringing back Agatha Christie as Ghost of Honor.

January 25, 2003 - Keeper of the Realm Kick-off Party A Huge Success. -The first of two kick-off parties at both Barnes & Noble stores in Plano, Texas was a roaring success. Over 200 people attended! It was a madhouse and people had trouble finding a parking place. Ms. Ralles signed 87 books continuously for two hours!  A huge cake provided for the occasion was completely gone in the first hour. Needless to say the staff at Barnes & Noble were thrilled. See Photos

November 17, 2002 - Keeper of the Kingdom #1 on Dallas Morning News Bestseller list for local paperback fiction. In anticipation of H.J. Ralles new addition to the Keeper Series, Keeper of the Realm, sales of Keeper of the Kingdom have been brisk.  Enough so that Keeper of the Kingdom is back on the local bestseller list.

 May 15, 2002 - Lisa Korth and William Manchee to Speak at Mystery Writers Workshop. Lisa and Bill will be panel members at the annual SW Chapter of the Mystery Writers of America Workshop to be held in Houston on June 15, 2002. The winner of the MWA SOUTHWEST MANUSCRIPT CONTEST will be announced. The winner of the manuscript contest will be announced during the conference and will be offered a contract.  Lisa indicates the final entrants are all very good and a decision will be difficult to make.

MAY 12, 2002 - Top Ventures, Ltd. acquires BitBooks.Com Top Ventures, Ltd., the majority partner in Top Publications, Ltd., recently acquired the popular literary website, Bitbooks.com. The site was acquired from Phil Flora who originally conceived the idea of providing a place for published and unpublished authors to list their titles and link them to a website where an excerpt could be read.  Readers then can return to Bitbooks.com and rate the excerpt. Bitbooks works as both a webring and a search engine. Books are rated from 1-10 and ranked by popularity (hits). Top Ventures plans to enhance the site to make it more attractive by hosting contests and games, giving out prizes and publishing novels or collections of work listed on the site

April 30, 2002 - Top Author Joyce Spizer To appear On "43 Magazine" The appearance is set for Wednesday, June 26 on WKAG-TV 43 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.  The show airs from 6:30 - 8 a.m.  She will discuss the Appalachian Celebration and her book The Cross Country Killer.  Two days later, KPQ Radio (560 AM) in central Washington will have her as a call-in guest during Ken Johannessen's evening talk show.

April 30, 2002 - TOP Represented At Book Expo 2002. Top President Lisa Korth and author William Manchee are heading to New York City for BookExpo this week.  If you are attending the convention, make sure to stop by the Top Publications booth SP181 and say hello. TOP will have an exhibit in the small press and rights center. 

March 13, 2002 - William Manchee will be a guest on the noon news on KOTV TV, Channel 6, a CBS affiliate in Tulsa, Oklahoma to discuss his latest release, Trouble in Trinidad. This will precede his weekend signings in Tulsa at Waldenbooks and Barnes & Noble.

January 29, 2002 - This Friday, February 1, Top author Tony Fennelly will appear on the "Meet the Author" segment of the "4:30 Show" on WLOX - TV (Channel 13) in Biloxi.  If you live near Biloxi or have cable or satellite access to this ABC affiliate, be sure to tune in and tell your friends to watch.  It will be great fun to see how the afternoon talk show hosts react to everyone's favorite stripper-turned-author.

JULY 9, 2001 - William Manchee Receives International Acclaim.  Death Pact, William Manchee's legal thriller which first appeared in 1999, is currently listed in the Top 25 Favorites (#24) at Australia's  internet bookseller www.NedKelly.com.au. Death Pact is listed in the Crime Novel category and shares the top 25 spotlight with such notable authors as Janet Evanovich, Ann Rule and John D. McDonald.

June 6, 2001 - Top Publications announces the release of Tony Fennelly's new novel, Don't Blame the Snake.  This Margo Fortier Mystery is now available in from Hervey's Booklink in Dallas.

June 1, 2001 -William Manchee signs pre-publications editions of his new novel, Trouble In Trinidad, at Book Expo America in Chicago and tours the Midwest.

May 1, 2001 - The release of Lynnette Baughman's second novel, Thin Disguise, was announced today by Top Publication's president, Lisa Korth. Thin Disguise is set in Las Vegas and involves the murder of a famous film star. Lynnette plans to extensively promote her new book throughout the country.

April 17, 2001 - Top Publications announced it would be sponsoring a novel manuscript contest exclusively for members in good standing of Mystery Writers of America/Southwest Chapter.  The winner's novel will be published by Top.  On June 16, 2001, at the MWA/SW workshop "Mysteries & Movies: Writing for Print and Film" the contest kicks off, and contestants may submit manuscript from that date through August 31, 2001.The contest entry fee is $25.00.  And Top Publications is generously donating proceeds to the Southwest chapter.  Contestants will submit a synopsis and first thirty (30) pages of a completed novel.  Semi-finalists will receive requests to submit complete manuscripts. Five (5) finalists' manuscripts will be sent to the editors of Top Publications, who will choose the winning novel. The winner will be announced prior to the MWA/SW June 2002 workshop and will be invited to appear at the workshop with a Top Publications representative to celebrate his/her award and discuss up-coming publication.

April 1, 2001 - Top Publications announces the release of L.C. Hayden's third novel, Where Secrets Lie. The new suspense thriller returns Detective Harry Bronson who helps a young woman search for her biological parents who don't want to be found.

March 1, 2001 - Top Publications releases Melody Bussey's debut novel, Crazy Cats, "A quirky, mischievous tale of cats, murder, madness and unfinished business."  See Cats.

February 1, 2001 - Top Publications announces the release of its first title of the year, Keeper of the Kingdom by H.J. Ralles.  Ralles' debut novel is about a kid who finds himself a player in his computer game. Unfortunately he didn't read the directions before he started to play and doesn't know how to get home.  Ralles will be promoting her children's book across the nation in bookstores and in the classroom. In addition to traditional book signings she will be teaching students about writing and publishing. She has created a lot of excitement at area schools already and has classes already set for the PISD and the Dallas Public Library.  See Keeper. 

November 12, 2000 - Top Publications announces the signing of Edgar nominee, Tony Fennelly, for the publication of her new novel, Don't Blame the Snake due out in April 2001. See press release.

October 1, 2000 - William Manchee has been selected as Author of the Month on the internet review site, www.myshelf.com.  Included at the site is a great article, an interview and reviews of Second Chair and Death Pact. 

September 17, 2000 <-A mystery novel titled A SPY WITHIN, by Los Alamos, New Mexico author Lynnette Baughman, has been selected the Featured Title for September on the website www.mysteryauthors.com.  At the recent World Mystery Convention in Denver, Baughman participated in a panel on Research,
answering questions on the extensive research she did on the search for "Perseus," the never-identified spy inside the Manhattan Project. A SPY WITHIN is a contemporary novel based on that real-life espionage story.

August 26, 2000 - Top Authors to converge on Denver for Bouchercon 2000, the World Mystery Conference.  L.C. Hayden, Carl Brookins, Lynnette Baughman, Tricia Allen, and William Manchee will all be participants in this year's World Mystery Conference September 7th-10th.  The annual conference provides an opportunity for mystery fans and authors to meet and discuss their true passion in life, a good mystery. 

July 12, 2000 - Three Top Authors, Hayden, Allen, and Manchee head for Cluefest in Plano, Texas this week to participate in the annual Mystery Book Fair.

July 11, 2000 - Manchee invited to speak at the Southwest Mystery Writers Annual Writer's Conference to be held September 16th at the Doubletree Guest Suites in Houston, Texas.  Manchee will speak on "The Role of Small Presses in Publishing Industry Today."

July 7, 2000 - Top Publication signs new children's author, H. J. Ralles, who has written a wonderful book called "Keeper of the Kingdom." Details to be forthcoming

June 30, 2000 - Publisher's Weekly reviews Manchee's Second Chair.  See Review.

June 25, 2000 - William Manchee addressed an overflow crowd at the Cowtown Crimesolvers monthly meeting at Borders in Ft. Worth, Texas on the topic of "Small Presses." The speech was followed by a discussion and book signing.

June 20, 2000 - Lynnette Baughman's A Spy Within optioned by Danamar Productions.  An award winning screenwriter and his partner  have been granted an option on the film rights of A Spy Within. They will pitch the story to several major studios in hopes of landing a deal.   

June 17,2000 - Carl Brookins' new novel, Inner Passages is back from the press and ready to order. It is set to be released July 1, 2000. Brookins has already set up a very aggressive promotional tour across the Northwest and Midwestern  portions of the U.S.

May 16, 2000 - Mystery Scene Magazine prints feature story on Top Publications in latest issue. See story.

May 15, 2000 - Tricia Allen gets great first review. The Book Reader says Tricia Allen "...weaves a magic spell of suspects and victims that keeps readers guessing to the end. Great period piece spellbinder."  See full Review.

May 11, 2000 - Top Authors, Tricia Allen and William Manchee participated along with Carole Nelson Douglas and Helen Meyers in a panel discussion, Mystery Writing in the New Millennium, today at Barnes & Noble in Dallas. The event received some good press in the Dallas Observer and drew a good crowd. Sandra Johnson, the Barnes & Noble CRC observed the discussion was very interesting and the event was a great success.

May 6, 2000 - Top Authors, L.C. Hayden and Lynnette Baughman, are participating in Mystery Week Events this week in Austin.

May 1, 2000 - Top Publications announced today the release of Texas Weather by Tricia Allen.  This 40's mystery, set in Dallas, is about an Assistant DA who, while prosecuting a vicious killer, is distracted by his own personal problems including allegations he killed a fellow prosecutor. A great story that is sure to be a success.

April 15, 2000 - Top Publications becomes a co-sponsor of Texas Author Mystery Week and will coordinate the Dallas Area Events.

March 30, 2000 - Lynnette Baughman's book, A SPY WITHIN, is ranked Number One in sales by Amazon.com in the category "Books Unique to Los Alamos, NM." It's also #2 in fiction in "Books Unique to New Mexico.

March 25, 2000 - Top Publications establishes internet bookstore.  Top Publications opened its internet bookstore today which it calls "TOP DIRECT." Internet users can now order any Top Title 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. March 15, 2000 - Top Publications signs new author, Aaron Masters. Aaron Masters, aka Bill Brownell, is the author of an exciting, action-packed novel entitled Queen of Aces. It's the story of a female aviator during World War II who surreptitiously flies in combat and becomes the first female ace in U.S. History.

February 15, 2000 - Carl Brookins signs on as a new Top Author. Carl has written an epic story about a man's search for his wife's killer. It's a great seafaring story entitled Inner Passages and is sure to be a big hit.

January 12, 2000 - L.C. Hayden heads to Dallas for weekend tour.  L.C. Hayden has been getting great reviews of her new book, When Colette Died. This week she'll be in Dallas/Fort Worth promoting this glitzy Los Vegas mystery. 

December 23, 1999 - Top Publications signs new author, Tricia Allen. Tricia is from Dallas and has written a great legal thriller called Texas Weather. It's about a Dallas assistant DA who is prosecuting a high profile murder case when he himself is accused of murder. Texas Weather is scheduled for release in May or June.

December 15, 1999 - Lynnette Baughman gets off to fast start with new release, A Spy Within. Lynnette has been off an running with her new critically acclaimed mystery/spy novel, A Spy Within. Sales have been fast and furious since the books release in November and Lynnette hit the road with over 50 book signings scheduled before year's end. After taking a short break in January, Lynnette will be heading out to California in February.

September 27, 1999 - Top Publications is participating with other independent mystery publishers in a catalogue, IMPRINT, that will be distributed to participants at Bouchercon 30, over a 1000 bookstores and many libraries around the country. The project is the first of many aimed at competing more effectively with the big publishing giants that have dominated the market over the past few years. 

September 23, 1999 - L.C. Hayden and William Manchee are off to the UMBA Trade Show in St. Paul, Minnesota where they will be promoting their new books.   Manchee will also be going to the World Mystery conference, Bouchercon 30, in Milwaukee. He'll be going a dozen books signings along the way.

September 22, 1999 L.C. Hayden gets a four star review from the Romantic Times Magazine. The review is expected out in the November issue.

September 22, 1999 - Another Stan Turner Mystery, Ca$h Call, which is yet to be published is being made into a screen play. Manchee hopes to sell the screenplay and release the novel in conjunction with the film adaptation of the novel.

September 21, 1999 - Top Publications has signed with a New York rights agency that will be showing the Top Pub titles at the Frankfurt, Germany Book Fair. This is where most foreign language translation deals are made. This agency also represents John Grisham. Our agent is optimistic about the prospects of getting some contract offers.

September 20, 1999 - Death Pact, When Colette Died, A Spy Within and the new paperback edition of Twice Tempted will be included in a feature article on Mystery Fiction to be published in Publisher's Weekly in October or November.

September 14, 1999 - Manchee completes Arkansas wing of his 51 city Death Pact tour. The Mid-South Trade Show in Little Rock goes well.   Sales of Death Pact are brisk. 

September 13, 1999 - William Manchee launches his 51 city book tour to promote his latest novel, Death Pact, and his Stan Turner Mystery Series.
