ABOUT THE ARTIST

Sherry Knopf has been a professional artist in Dallas since 1967. She studied anatomy, perspective, illustration, and oil painting at The Art Students League in New York.

She remembers George Bridgeman and Robert Brackman, who fulfilled her love of painting hands. She studied oil painting with Brackman, who taught his students to express their feelings in their art.

Ms. Knopf's influences were varied. She has always admired "down to earth" Norman Rockwell, the somber tones of Rembrandt, and the bright colors of the Impressionists.

Over her career, her work has been eclectic. At times she has abstract fantasies and the immerses herself in basic realism. She had a phase of painting wagon wheels incorporated in various paintings; a still-life; a "punk rock" phase; and has always enjoyed painting children.

And, most unusual, if she is inspired by the subject matter, she writes poetry.
