DANIEL J. HALE

&

MATTHEW LABROT

Matthew LaBrot and his uncle, Daniel J. Hale, share a great enthusiasm for mysteries, sports, and the original Jonny Quest cartoon series. One day when Matthew was twelve years old, he and Daniel were clowning around on the computer while discussing some of Matthew¹s soccer experiences. As a lark, they wrote the first few sentences of a mystery novel. Though the sentences they conjured up on the screen were originally intended for nothing more than a few laughs, the story soon took on a life of its own. When Matthew
was thirteen, he and Daniel finished work on RED CARD, the first Zeke Armstrong Mystery, and soon sold the manuscript to Top Publications.

While writing RED CARD, Daniel and his nephew would often sit together at the computer taking turns typing and making suggestions. At other times, one would write a section and email the document to the other, who would then add a section and email it back. All the soccer scenes in the book were written by Matthew, and the title, RED CARD, was his idea.

Daniel and Matthew are now at work on GREEN STREAK, the second Zeke Armstrong Mystery. This new book centers on an inline skating race and an apparent mugging that Zeke knows to be much, much more in Manhattan's Central Park. GREEN STREAK follows Zeke as he sprints through many exciting new adventures in New York City. Matthew and his uncle plan to write every word of their new novel sitting side-by-side.

Matthew plays for the Dallas Texans Soccer Club and has pitched for his All-Star baseball team for the past several years. He also enjoys mountain biking, playing guitar, and riding go-karts. Matthew lives with his parents, brother, and sister in North Texas.

A competitive mountain bike racer, Daniel also enjoys snow skiing, inline skating, and playing squash. He has visited many parts of the world and has lived in Arkansas, New York, Texas, and France (where he learned to speak fluent French). Now making his home in Dallas, Daniel gets a big kick out of subjecting his family and friends to the bizarre science experiments he calls cooking.
